About the role#
This position focuses on theoretical and computational methods to explore the structure of exotic nuclei. You will work on fundamental questions related to nuclear forces, first principles many-body simulations, and connections to beyond-standard-model physics. You will have the opportunity to design extensions to computational infrastructure, optimize existing codes, or perform calculations that connect directly with experimental research at TRIUMF and other global facilities.
What you'll do#
- Perform theoretical nuclear physics calculations.
- Organize and interpret research results.
- Implement or test extensions to existing codes.
- Participate in group and lab-wide activities, including colloquia, seminars, and journal clubs.
- Interact with experimental colleagues on-site.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Physics program.
- Mastery of material in introductory quantum mechanics courses.
- Familiarity with eigenvalues, wavefunctions, operators, unitary transformations, and angular-momentum algebra.
- Computing experience, with fluency in C++ preferred and Fortran highly desirable.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Vancouver, British Columbia.
