About the role#
TRUMPF is seeking a CNC Programming Intern to join the Sheetmetal Fabrication Department in Farmington, Connecticut. This internship offers practical experience that complements your undergraduate studies. The position requires an on-site presence for at least 32 hours per week between January 2027 and August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform dynamic nesting for laser cut and combination machines.
- Analyze engineering detail drawings to determine standardization, material requirements, heat treatment, and design elements.
- Specify machining patterns on program sheets.
- Design fixtures for production and customer parts.
- Create routings that follow TRUMPF standards.
- Develop instruction information, including drawings for workpiece placement and holding.
- Assist with programming, tape punching, and verification tasks.
- Make manual changes to machine code.
- Ensure setup, cycle, and secondary times are recorded accurately in SAP.
- Operate the machining center when operators are absent.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited university, specifically in Mechanical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.
