    About the role#

    As a Composite Engineering Intern, you will work with the PMP team on the development, fabrication, and testing of non-metallic materials. You will gain exposure to systems engineering, quality assurance, and production operations while shadowing experienced engineers. This role involves onsite support at our composites supplier production facility and may require travel to other locations.

    What you'll do#

    • Support materials testing and process improvement initiatives.
    • Provide production support for composite structures like payload fairings, interstage adapters, heatshields, and payload attach fittings.
    • Assist with issue resolution during layup, cure, machining, integration, and acceptance.
    • Participate in hardware acceptance activities, including build paper reviews and physical inspections.
    • Define and manage requirements, interfaces, and performance metrics.
    • Integrate across design, analysis, and production teams.
    • Support test planning, scheduling, and execution.
    • Contribute to trade studies that balance performance, cost, and risk.

    What you'll need#

    • Completed Sophomore year of college by the start of the internship.
    • Minimum college GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
    • Actively pursuing a bachelor degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
    • Plans to be enrolled in classes during Fall Semester 2027.
    • Ability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
    • Coursework or experience with composites design, analysis, or manufacturing.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Valid driver license and motorized vehicle transportation.
    • Must be a U.S. Person as defined in ITAR 22 CFR 120.62.
