    About the role#

    The USGA Golf Museum and Library offers a paid internship for students or recent graduates of a graduate program in Library Science. This role provides hands-on experience in preserving and cataloging historic golf materials. You will work with a collection that includes over 500,000 items, ranging from rare books and institutional records to personal archives. This position offers exposure to library operations, digital repository management, and archival research.

    What you'll do#

    • Arrange, describe, and catalog materials within the TMS Collections system.
    • Standardize existing records by following the TMS Record Style Guide.
    • Digitize archival materials to support the Library and Special Collections program.
    • Manage the physical storage of items, including moving and reshelving materials.
    • Assist with research requests and help facilitate onsite research visits.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a graduate level program in Library Science.
    • Basic knowledge of digital asset management systems.
    • Familiarity with metadata, library standards, and resources.
    • Understanding of best practices for handling sensitive and historic materials.
    • Ability to lift and move library materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

    Location & details#

    This is a hybrid, part-time position based at the USGA campus in Liberty Corner, New Jersey. The role requires approximately 20 hours per week, with an expectation of 3 days on-site between Monday and Friday. The term is flexible, with a preference for an academic semester and the possibility of a 12-month duration.
