About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring four Student Assistants to support the Department of Fish and Wildlife in Sacramento. This role offers hands-on experience with professional accounting duties under the supervision of a unit supervisor. You will work in an office setting within the Natural Resources Building.
What you'll do#
- Review, audit, and approve vouchers and invoices to ensure they meet government requirements.
- Analyze and resolve payment or supplier issues.
- Process purchase orders within the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal).
- Handle records management tasks, including scanning claim schedules, filing, and downloading data.
- Maintain contract copies and submit them electronically to the State Controller’s Office.
- Assist with special projects, year-end accruals, and the preparation of memos.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student (at least half-time) at an accredited institution.
- A declared major in Accountancy, Management Information Systems, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and operate standard office equipment.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Students typically work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
- Compensation: $18.27 to $24.62 per hour.
- Status: Part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
