About the role#
The WELL at Sacramento State is hiring seasonal Event Services Set-up Assistants to support operations for the Hornet Pavilion during the 2026-2027 athletic season. This temporary position runs through mid-March 2027. You will work on an as-needed basis to ensure events run smoothly and guests have an enjoyable experience.
What you'll do#
- Work with the event supervisor to manage room setups and equipment operation.
- Account for and secure audio-visual equipment, tables, chairs, and other furnishings before and after events.
- Collaborate with other Event Services Attendants to set up, break down, and manage events.
- Provide feedback to your supervisor after assigned events.
- Support general building operations and maintain a welcoming environment for all guests.
- Enforce facility policies and ensure the safety of guests, customers, and staff.
- Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Sacramento State with at least 9 units for undergraduates or 6 units for graduate students.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capacity to lift 40 pounds and stand for long periods.
- Skill in prioritizing tasks and working with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and lead alongside other staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of customer service and safe working practices.
- Experience with event set-up and break-down is preferred.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $16.90 per hour.
- Schedule: Generally up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
