About the role#
Utah Retirement Systems is hiring a Biometric Health Screener Intern to join the PEHP Healthy Utah team. This role provides hands-on experience in the health field by performing screenings for PEHP members. You will travel throughout Utah to conduct testing events, consult with members, and help them understand their health results. Training is provided.
What you'll do#
- Travel in-state to testing sites and assist with event setup and breakdown.
- Greet members, schedule appointments, and manage the intake process.
- Perform biometric tests including blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, A1C, and body composition.
- Consult with participants regarding their health status, risks, and potential improvement resources.
- Record and enter biometric data while ensuring accuracy through quality control.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with data privacy rules regarding Protected Health Information.
- Adhere to the Bloodborne Pathogen and Exposure Control Plan.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma.
- Currently pursuing a degree in a health-related field, such as Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, Biomedical Sciences, or Nutrition (preferred).
- Experience in customer service, clerical, or administrative functions is preferred.
- Ability to perform finger stick techniques and blood pressure measurements.
- Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks like standing, walking, and reaching.
Location & details#
- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Work Modality: On-site with frequent in-state travel, including some overnight trips.
- Schedule: Full-time position, limited to 29 hours per week for up to one year or 40 hours per week for up to six months.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
