About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work on-site at our San Jose, California office for the duration of the 10-week program. We are looking for students pursuing a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related quantitative fields.
What you'll do#
- Train and improve ML models across various datasets and tasks.
- Analyze loss curves, gradients, and metrics to diagnose model failures and improve performance.
- Work on transformer models, fine-tuning workflows, evaluation systems, and generative AI applications.
- Build reusable experimentation, training, and evaluation workflows for ML research.
- Prototype and iterate quickly using Claude-assisted development workflows.
What you'll need#
- Strong foundation in supervised and unsupervised learning, optimization, regularization, and deep learning fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience training deep learning models in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Ability to diagnose issues such as poor convergence, overfitting, unstable training, and data leakage.
- Strong understanding of probability, statistics, hypothesis testing, and experimental analysis.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code with strong encapsulation and object-oriented design principles.
- Experience training, fine-tuning, or evaluating transformer models or LLMs.
- Familiarity with tools such as Weights & Biases, MLflow, distributed training, LoRA/QLoRA, or hyperparameter optimization.
- Completed advanced coursework in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Probability & Statistics, Linear Algebra, Optimization, Algorithms & Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, or Software Engineering.

- Compensation: Paid internship with a pay range of $40 - $50 USD per hour.
