    About the role#

    The Restoring Promise team focuses on criminal legal reform and transforming prison culture. This internship supports the Designed for Dignity project, which helps state departments of corrections create humane policies and practices. You will gain experience in technical assistance, research, and project management while working on policy reviews and resource development.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the Designed for Dignity project through agency assessments and trainings.
    • Conduct literature reviews and assist with data entry, analysis, and visualization.
    • Transcribe interviews and focus groups.
    • Help design and create presentations and visual materials.
    • Write and edit documents, newsletters, and reports.
    • Provide technical support for virtual and in-person meetings.
    • Participate in internal and external meetings, including taking notes.

    What you'll need#

    • Interest in fields such as criminal legal reform, correctional services, psychology, social work, or human services.
    • Previous personal or professional experience or exposure to the criminal legal system.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Zoom.
    • Strong communication skills for emailing, notetaking, and internal team memos.
    • Preferred: Lived experience as a person directly impacted by the criminal legal system.
    • Academic background in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Human Resources, or Political Science is relevant.

    Location & details#

    • Term: Fall 2026.
    • Location: Brooklyn, New York.
    • Modality: Hybrid, with an alternating schedule generally requiring 10 days per month in the office.
    • Status: Paid, full-time internship.
