About the role#
VetnCare offers a two-week externship program for students in fields such as Biology, Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Kinesiology, and Agriculture. This program provides hands-on experience in a clinical environment to help you transition from veterinary school into professional practice. You will work alongside experienced veterinarians to build clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
What you'll do#
- Support patient history taking and clinical examinations.
- Assist with diagnostic planning and case workups.
- Participate in treatment planning and case presentations.
- Engage in client communication and case discussions.
- Help with urgent care case management.
- Observe and assist with surgical workflows, perioperative care, and dentistry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a relevant field of study.
- Hands-on clinical experience.
- Ability to shadow veterinarians in a busy hospital setting.
- Comfort with patient history taking.
- Competence in surgical workflow and perioperative care.
- Exposure to or interest in emergency medicine.
