About the role#
The Process Engineering Intern will support the site in improving operational efficiency, product quality, and safety. You will partner with operators, engineers, and site leadership to identify challenges, analyze processes, and develop practical solutions. This role provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Establish, execute, and maintain gap analysis of continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure compliance with standards for EHS, cost control, waste reduction, and quality.
- Recommend modifications or additions to address operational improvement projects.
- Identify process safety reactivity evaluations.
- Update process training and operating procedures.
- Ensure new production processes comply with environmental and process safety regulations.
- Support significant processing issues and incidents involving chemical formulations.
- Communicate findings to site and senior leadership teams.
- Engage employees in continuous improvement tools and philosophies.
- Drive visual operation performance metrics to the shop floor.
What you'll need#
- Rising Junior or Senior status in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Degree in Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Prior manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Minitab, and SAP.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong communication skills for working with local site teams and managers.
- Ability to bring assigned projects to closure.
- Commitment to EHS policies and standards.
Location & details#
- Location: Garrett, Indiana.
- Term: Summer 2027 (10-12 weeks between May and August).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
