About the role#
As an IT Intern at Momentive, you will support the technology that keeps our manufacturing and business operations running. You will work with experienced IT professionals to troubleshoot technical issues, support end users, and implement new technologies. This role offers hands-on experience in a global manufacturing environment, focusing on end-user support, hardware deployment, and project coordination.
What you'll do#
- Provide frontline technical support by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with troubleshooting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other workplace technologies.
- Support IT projects that improve productivity, user experience, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with IT specialists, business stakeholders, and site leadership to implement technology solutions.
- Coordinate hardware deployments, workstation setups, software installations, and equipment upgrades.
- Participate in network, infrastructure, and digital workplace support activities across multiple site locations.
- Monitor and escalate technical issues to specialized teams while tracking progress through resolution.
- Maintain IT documentation, processes, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Support meeting technologies, collaboration tools, and executive user requests.
- Research emerging technologies and contribute ideas to improve IT services.
- Evaluate opportunities for process improvements and automation within the IT environment.
- Build working relationships with end users while delivering responsive, customer-focused support.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Enrollment status at the time of application and for at least one semester following the internship.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking concepts, and Microsoft technologies.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift, install, and configure IT equipment such as workstations, monitors, and printers.
- Willingness to travel across site locations as needed.
- Preferred: Coursework or experience in networking, systems administration, cloud technologies, or ticketing systems.
