About the role#
As a Maintenance Engineer Intern, you will work within a large-scale chemical manufacturing facility to improve the reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness of maintenance operations. You will collaborate with maintenance leaders, planners, supervisors, and skilled craftspeople to evaluate work processes, analyze maintenance data, and implement solutions that enhance productivity and operational performance. This role provides hands-on experience with maintenance planning, preventive maintenance programs, SAP systems, and continuous improvement efforts.
What you'll do#
- Lead maintenance process improvement initiatives by evaluating existing workflows and developing solutions to reduce non-value-added activities.
- Assist with the digitalization of maintenance processes, including the evaluation of opportunities to automate manual reporting.
- Review preventive maintenance strategies and equipment maintenance plans within SAP.
- Analyze maintenance history and equipment performance data to identify trends and process gaps.
- Participate in ERP system transition activities, including data validation, process mapping, and documentation.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support data-driven decision-making.
- Create and update standard work instructions, job aids, and process documentation.
- Document project findings and present final results to site leadership.
- Participate in daily maintenance activities, including planning, scheduling, work execution reviews, and safety processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple levels and functions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to working safely in both office and industrial field environments.
- Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to learn.

- Location: Friendly, West Virginia.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
