About the role#
As a full-time intern at Walker Consultants, you will assist Engineers and Project Managers on design and restoration projects. You will work with a local team of Architects and Engineers and report to the local Director of Design Services.
What you'll do#
- Participate in on-site survey teams to determine causes of deterioration or confirm as-built conditions.
- Assist with the design of project elements, including load calculations, foundations, retaining walls, and concrete members.
- Prepare project documents, including drawings and reports.
- Collect data for project designs, such as surveys, codes, and soil reports.
- Use computer software to solve basic engineering problems.
- Visit job sites to observe construction and submit field reports to Project Managers.
- Review shop drawings and submittals.
- Learn how individual project elements integrate into a completed project.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior level standing or Master's student in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Overall GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- Completed coursework in Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete, and Prestressed Concrete Structures.
- Strong computer, writing, communication, and team skills.
- Willingness to travel for field visits within the state.
- Experience with Revit or AutoCAD is preferred.
