About the role#
As a Packaging Engineer COOP, you will work within the Research, Development, and Innovation team at Winland Foods. You will apply packaging science principles to real-world projects while gaining exposure to industry experts. This role provides hands-on experience in the product launch process and allows you to work both independently and with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
What you'll do#
- Participate in new product development, including concept and prototype work.
- Contribute to cost savings initiatives, quality improvements, and material substitutions.
- Conduct line trials and packaging qualifications to support project goals.
- Work with cross-functional team members to understand how different roles impact product commercialization.
- Research specific packaging topics and present your findings to a broad audience.
- Support sustainability initiatives by meeting customer goals for various metrics.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program such as Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or Operations Management.
- An understanding of packaging development and packaging science principles.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Project management skills.
- Experience with or interest in sustainability initiatives.
Location & details#
- Location: Oak Brook, Illinois.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (in-office Tuesday through Thursday, remote on Monday and Friday).
- Terms: Fall 2028 and Winter 2028.
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
