    About the role#

    World Relief is seeking a Youth Fellow to support refugee and immigrant students in Durham. This part-time position involves 20 hours of work per week. You will work with the Refugee and Immigrant Youth Services team to develop programming and assist families with school-related needs. This is a limited-term role funded through June 30, 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate with the RIYS team to develop youth services for refugee and immigrant students.
    • Help families navigate school registration and enrollment processes.
    • Facilitate interpretation for parent and teacher conferences.
    • Coordinate communication between schools and parents by translating forms or working with bilingual assistants.
    • Support student participation in tutoring and mentorship activities.
    • Serve as Chair or Co-Chair of the Youth Advisory Council to help inform program development.
    • Meet weekly with your supervisor for feedback and planning.
    • Track program data and manage case notes using internal databases.

    What you'll need#

    • A mature and personal Christian faith.
    • Ability to affirm World Relief's Core Beliefs and Statement of Faith.
    • A high school diploma or equivalent.
    • A desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities.
    • A demonstrated understanding of the refugee or immigrant experience.
    • Preference is given to candidates fluent in languages spoken by clients, such as Arabic, Dari, Spanish, or Swahili.
    • A valid North Carolina driver's license is preferred.

    Location & details#

    • This role is based in Durham, North Carolina.
    • The position follows a hybrid schedule, with 70% of time spent in the office and 30% working from home.
    • This is a paid, part-time position.
