About the role#
The Government Affairs internship at The Cigna Group provides hands-on experience in advocacy and public policy. You will join the team in Washington, DC to help advance policy positions that support the health of our customers and communities. You will learn from experienced colleagues and gain exposure to leaders throughout the organization.
What you'll do#
- Analyze health care delivery, legislative, and regulatory policy issues.
- Research and support policy development and high-level briefing projects.
- Communicate findings through concise written materials and presentations.
- Partner on projects with Advocacy, Public Policy, Executive Government Affairs, International, and other teams.
- Support stakeholder engagement and participate in discussions with senior leaders.
- Take part in a guided mentoring experience while contributing as an active team member.
What you'll need#
- An interest in a career in government affairs, public policy, or health care policy.
- A general understanding of government processes and current health policy issues.
- Strong research, analysis, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to collaborate, bring new ideas, manage priorities, and follow through on commitments.
- Coursework or experience in public policy, government, political science, health policy, or a related area is preferred.
