About the role#
As an Actuarial Intern, you will support our insurance consulting teams by preparing and reconciling data, developing key models, and assisting with various insurance business lines. You will work on projects involving pricing, loss reserving, financial modeling, and benchmarking. This role provides exposure to insurance solutions for large customer bases, such as banks, retailers, and credit unions.
What you'll do#
- Provide actuarial and analytics support across multiple insurance business lines and programs.
- Assist senior consulting staff with data reconciliation, compilation, and the production of reports, presentations, and summary analyses.
- Streamline processes to increase efficiency and provide new perspectives on technical actuarial problems.
- Support consultants with research and presentation materials for new client prospects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Actively pursuing an actuarial designation through a recognized professional association.
- Experience manipulating and summarizing large datasets using R, Python, SQL, or similar tools.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, along with experience in Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Note: Candidates must not be students at Université Laval, Université de Montréal, or Université du Québec à Montréal, as these institutions are subject to specific recruitment rules.
- Bilingualism in English and French, as well as experience with Power BI, personal insurance programs, or automation tools, are considered assets.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: 4 to 8 months (Winter, Summer, or Fall 2027).
- Compensation: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime.
- This is a paid, full-time internship. Please note that visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.
