About the role#
As a Site Reliability Engineer Student at Co-operators, you will join our IT Solutions Delivery team. This is a full-time, paid student position that operates on a hybrid basis, requiring two days per week in our Guelph, Ontario office. You will work alongside experienced professionals to maintain system health and improve our operational processes.
What you'll do#
- Monitor application and infrastructure health in both development and production environments.
- Support incident management by troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and conducting post-incident reviews.
- Develop and refine automation tools, scripts, and processes to increase efficiency.
- Monitor system performance and suggest ways to improve reliability and scalability.
- Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and observability solutions.
- Assist with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tasks.
- Collaborate with software developers to improve system reliability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Document technical processes, system configurations, and operational procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of operating systems, with a preference for Linux or Unix.
- Basic programming or scripting experience in languages such as Python, Java, Go, JavaScript, or Bash.
- Familiarity with networking concepts like TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and load balancing.
- Interest in cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work well in a team, share knowledge, and build professional relationships.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
