    About the role#

    This internship involves tackling cross-disciplinary projects from early conceptual stages through to full field deployment. You will work on systems intended for real-world use, where reliability and performance are critical. The role focuses on practical problem solving, where you will build prototypes, run tests, and iterate on designs to meet the needs of our global logistics operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop concepts and evaluate tradeoffs based on product and engineering requirements.
    • Use 2D and 3D CAD tools to design parts and assemblies.
    • Design, build, and run electro-mechanical testers to prove the reliability of critical components.
    • Evaluate designs on a material and integrated product level.
    • Document your work to ensure others understand key decisions.

    What you'll need#

    • Completed at least the second year of undergraduate studies. Masters and PhD students are also eligible.
    • Majors in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering.
    • Solid mechanical engineering fundamentals for structural analysis and component integration.
    • Experience with CAD and designing multiple projects.
    • Automation experience using actuators and Raspberry Pi's or similar hardware.
    • Experience in complex projects involving mechanical, electrical, and software design.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in South San Francisco, California.
    • The term for this internship is Summer 2027.
