About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the Mechanical Engineering Competency at Allegion. You will work on design, development, and technical analysis of moderate scope and complexity. This position offers a chance to gain hands-on experience by working on components and assemblies, either independently or as part of a project team. You will also learn about electronic locking systems and access control solutions.
What you'll do#
- Generate, evaluate, and develop design concepts for components and assemblies.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure appropriate processes, tooling, and equipment for manufacturing.
- Develop 3D models and participate in peer design reviews.
- Use tools such as Creo, MS Project, and tolerance stack templates.
- Participate in daily and regular team meetings.
- Apply engineering techniques including FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, and DFM/DFA.
- Perform mechanical testing.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Basic understanding of electronics.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
- Ability to work effectively in both team and individual settings.
- Strong time management, listening, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Resiliency and the ability to adapt quickly.
- A strong desire to learn and grow.
