    About the role#

    As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the Mechanical Engineering Competency at Allegion. You will work on design, development, and technical analysis of moderate scope and complexity. This position offers a chance to gain hands-on experience by working on components and assemblies, either independently or as part of a project team. You will also learn about electronic locking systems and access control solutions.

    What you'll do#

    • Generate, evaluate, and develop design concepts for components and assemblies.
    • Collaborate with engineers to ensure appropriate processes, tooling, and equipment for manufacturing.
    • Develop 3D models and participate in peer design reviews.
    • Use tools such as Creo, MS Project, and tolerance stack templates.
    • Participate in daily and regular team meetings.
    • Apply engineering techniques including FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T, and DFM/DFA.
    • Perform mechanical testing.

    What you'll need#

    • Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
    • Basic understanding of electronics.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
    • Ability to work effectively in both team and individual settings.
    • Strong time management, listening, and creative problem-solving skills.
    • Resiliency and the ability to adapt quickly.
    • A strong desire to learn and grow.

    • Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Employment: Full-time.
    • Compensation: Paid internship.
