About the role#
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineering Intern to join our team in San Jose. In this role, you will support physical data center, colocation, and lab operations. You will work with senior engineers on hardware tasks, server imaging, and automation. This position is for students currently pursuing a graduate degree who want hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure and systems administration.
What you'll do#
- Support physical hardware operations including rack and stack, cabling, and labeling for HPC compute nodes and lab servers.
- Assist with bare-metal server imaging, OS installation, and initial network configuration.
- Use Ansible or Puppet scripts to automate routine system administration and configuration management workflows.
- Perform basic Linux and Windows administration tasks, monitor host status, and troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
- Assist with infrastructure deployment activities involving AWS and Terraform modules.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience or coursework in systems administration, computer networking, infrastructure engineering, or data center operations.
- Foundational knowledge of Linux or Windows operating systems.
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, and routing.
- Exposure to scripting or automation tools like Bash, Python, Ansible, or Puppet.
