About the role#
The Safety Intern provides support to Ameren business segments to help reduce injuries and illnesses. You will focus on soft-tissue and ergonomic risk reduction. This role involves using scientific techniques and problem-solving to ensure that the design of systems, tasks, equipment, and facilities maintains a safe environment for co-workers. You will work in both office and field settings.
What you'll do#
- Analyze soft tissue injury records to find trends for targeted interventions.
- Evaluate how work environments and machinery affect co-workers.
- Identify potential improvements and assist with their implementation.
- Investigate soft tissue injuries and illnesses.
- Present information through professional reports and verbal updates.
- Liaise with the Ameren Safety department, health specialists, and designers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for safety, industrial hygiene, or ergonomics with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory agency standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle.
- Proficiency with MS Office is preferred.

- Location: St. Louis, Missouri.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through August).
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- The role may require occasional overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, particularly during storms or outages. Overnight travel may be necessary.
