About the role#
The Culinary Intern supports the kitchen team by preparing food according to standardized recipes and production guidelines. You will handle ingredients, operate kitchen equipment, and ensure that food safety and sanitation standards are met. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Prepare ingredients by chopping, peeling, mixing, weighing, and measuring.
- Cook food using methods such as baking, roasting, steaming, and broiling.
- Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, mixers, and slicers.
- Set up your workstation with all necessary ingredients and tools.
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food items for service.
- Sanitize work areas and equipment to maintain a clean environment.
- Store food properly according to safety policies.
- Maintain production records and assist with work schedules.
- Provide excellent service to guests and co-workers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
- A major in Nutrition.
- A valid food safety certification.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation principles, various cooking methods, and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Basic math and counting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
