About the role#
The Culinary Intern at the Spanish Bay Main Kitchen works under the guidance of the Chef to observe, practice, and master essential culinary skills. This internship provides hands-on experience assisting kitchen staff in producing hot and cold foods while meeting established kitchen standards.
What you'll do#
- Complete tasks assigned by the kitchen manager.
- Assist with dish up for banquet functions and special events.
- Prepare cold food items including sandwiches, salads, and dressings.
- Perform basic vegetable prep, such as slicing and dicing.
- Handle and prepare meat, fish, vegetables, and starches.
- Execute hot food preparation using frying, grilling, baking, roasting, and poaching techniques.
- Cook for the Employee Dining Room.
- Rotate food to ensure freshness and reduce waste.
- Maintain clean work areas and refrigerators.
- Clean, care for, and store kitchen equipment.
- Report faulty equipment or unsafe conditions to management.
What you'll need#
- A desire to observe, learn, and practice culinary skills.
- Ability to demonstrate mastery of skills through assessments.
- Proficiency in following recipe cards exactly.
- Knowledge of basic knife and equipment skills.
- Commitment to safety, health, and sanitation policies.

- Compensation: $16.90 per hour.
