About the role#
The Greenkeeper Intern performs routine manual labor and semi-skilled grounds maintenance at Pebble Beach Golf Links. You will work under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent. You may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of specific holes on the course. Because the resort operates seven days a week, your schedule may include weekends and holidays.
What you'll do#
- Operate mowers and string trimmers to maintain greens, aprons, tees, fence lines, and hillsides.
- Set tee markers and change cups on greens every day.
- Rake sand traps using power rakes.
- Assist with the construction of new greens, tees, and fairways, including grading, soil preparation, and sod installation.
- Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all equipment daily and report mechanical issues to the team.
- Perform general course upkeep, including debris removal, divot repair, and cleaning of flower beds or forested sites.
- Operate utility vehicles and other light equipment as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a two or four year Turfgrass Management degree or certificate program, or a related field of study.
- A valid driver license with 2 points or less.
- General knowledge of golf turf fundamentals and interest in the field.
- Prior experience working on a golf course or with sports turf is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and familiarity with golf terminology.
