About the role#
This is a 12-week, full-time paid internship at Nemacolin. You will work alongside horticulture and agronomy professionals to maintain the landscapes and gardens of our resort. This role provides hands-on experience in ornamental horticulture, hydroponic food production, and interior plantscapes.
What you'll do#
- Cultivate landscapes, gardens, and growing environments.
- Contribute to the design and installation of annual attractions.
- Support the production and harvest of produce for resort dining.
- Maintain gardens and outdoor spaces through hands-on care.
- Perform watering, pruning, transplanting, weeding, seeding, harvesting, and sanitation tasks.
- Care for interior plants throughout the resort.
- Support plant health through Integrated Pest Management.
- Rotate through key department areas including ornamentals and hydroponics.
- Maintain waterlogs and plant maintenance documentation.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Current enrollment as a second- or third-year student at an accredited college or university in horticulture, plant science, agricultural science, landscape architecture, hospitality management, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Fluent English language proficiency.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Commitment to established appearance standards.
- Continuous authorization to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
