About the role#
As a Community Garden Student Worker, you will maintain the grounds and assist with daily operations at the Asbury Theological Seminary garden. You will work directly with the Garden Coordinator to keep the space clean and functional for visitors and community members. This is a paid, on-site position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Mow and trim grass throughout the garden.
- Weed paths and shared planting beds.
- Empty trash bins weekly and clear stray tools or debris.
- Monitor the fire pit and notify the coordinator when firewood is low.
- Spread mulch and compost as needed.
- Water greenhouse beds, fruit trees, and communal plots.
- Open and close the greenhouse to manage temperatures and plant safety.
- Weed greenhouse beds and assist with planting, trimming, and harvesting.
- Turn the compost pile every few weeks.
- Support garden events and the produce stand.
- Act as a point person for other gardeners when the coordinator is unavailable.
What you'll need#
- Ability to perform hands-on garden maintenance.
- Ability to assist with garden events.
- Ability to support seasonal garden needs.
- Preference for students majoring in Agriculture or Environmental Engineering.
