About the role#
Auto-Owners Insurance is hiring for a Personal Lines Underwriting Internship for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Forest, Virginia. You will work alongside our team to learn the fundamentals of insurance underwriting and gain practical experience in the insurance industry.
What you'll do#
- Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company philosophy, and internal procedures.
- Review company policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements to understand their use.
- Analyze risks by looking at loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics.
- Gain a working knowledge of the various sections within the underwriting department.
- Communicate with independent agents and internal staff regarding underwriting matters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college, entering your junior or senior year.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Strong ability to organize data and manage multiple tasks at once.
- Capacity to make decisions independently and resolve complex issues.
- Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
