About the role#
Baltimore County Public Schools is hiring a Student Safety Assistant to work directly with students and staff. You will help foster a safe and supportive learning environment while performing various operational duties under the supervision of school administration.
What you'll do#
- Assist administration in maintaining a secure school environment.
- Act as a liaison between counselors and outside agencies.
- Screen visitor access to school facilities.
- Provide tiered interventions, including social-emotional learning, de-escalation, and conflict resolution.
- Implement crisis intervention procedures when necessary.
- Collaborate with staff to develop school-wide behavior management plans and procedures for discipline.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in work involving the welfare and safety of students or others.
- Ability to work harmoniously with staff and students.
- Knowledge of procedures for ensuring the safety and welfare of others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Technology competency.
- First aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- College coursework in fields such as psychology, sociology, or education is preferred.

- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour.

- Requirements: All employees must undergo fingerprinting and a criminal background investigation.
