About the role#
Barr Engineering Co. is hiring an electrical engineering intern for our Minneapolis office for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, hybrid position supporting our Engineering and Design business unit. You will work with multidisciplinary teams on projects involving power distribution, controls, and instrumentation. Please include your transcripts with your application.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic engineering calculations and analysis.
- Develop design details and assist in creating technical solutions.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and sketches.
- Monitor construction projects, which may involve working in industrial environments with rough terrain or moving machinery.
- Collaborate with team members and clients to align technical work with project objectives.
What you'll need#
- Ongoing enrollment in an electrical engineering degree program.
- At least one full-time semester of coursework remaining after the internship concludes.
- Completion of at least two semesters of physics and three semesters of mathematics.
- A current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software.

- The role is hybrid, allowing for a mix of office and home-based work.
