About the role#
Bascom Hunter is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to help develop, integrate, and test aerospace and defense systems. You will work on projects involving defense electronics, embedded systems, and thermal control. This role provides hands-on experience across the full engineering lifecycle. Your specific tasks will depend on current program needs and your own background.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design, integration, and testing of electrical and electronic systems.
- Build, wire, and troubleshoot test fixtures and engineering equipment.
- Support the debugging of electronic hardware and embedded systems.
- Write and execute test plans, procedures, and technical documentation.
- Run circuit analysis and simulations to check system performance.
- Work on microcontrollers, digital signal processing, and related electronics.
- Develop or modify LabVIEW programs for testing and data acquisition.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project meetings.
- Research emerging technologies for potential use in aerospace systems.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams.
- Assist with laboratory activities, project logistics, and test preparation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program for Electrical, Computer, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Preference for sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate students.
- A solid grasp of electrical engineering principles and circuit analysis.
- Coursework or knowledge in embedded systems, microcontrollers, or digital signal processing.
- Experience with tools like SPICE, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or CAD software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
- Previous hands-on experience through labs, projects, or prior internships.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
