About the role#
The Collins Aerospace Strategic Defense Solutions group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to join our team in Richardson, Texas. You will participate in the design, development, and testing of electronic equipment and integration kits for communication systems used on military aircraft and transportable platforms. This role involves working closely with systems, electrical, and manufacturing engineering staff to ensure requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Work with engineers and designers to produce models for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
- Execute tests for systems, subsystems, and components.
- Analyze test results against design specifications and test objectives.
- Communicate project information within a cross-functional team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Advanced degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Experience with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience with ANSYS or other mechanical analysis software.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
