About the role#
Bascom Hunter is looking for an Engineering Technician or Assembly Intern to help with the assembly, integration, and testing of aerospace and defense products. This role is for someone who enjoys working directly with hardware, using tools, and troubleshooting problems. You will work alongside engineers and technicians to support prototype builds and various hands-on activities for aerospace programs.
What you'll do#
- Perform hands-on mechanical and electromechanical assembly of components, subassemblies, and systems.
- Assemble products and prototypes using engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipment safely.
- Install mechanical hardware, electronic components, wiring, connectors, and fasteners.
- Support cable and harness assembly.
- Assist with prototype builds, product integration, and development activities.
- Help set up and execute functional and environmental product testing.
- Troubleshoot assembly, integration, and test issues.
- Inspect assemblies to verify they meet drawing and specification requirements.
- Document assembly activities, test results, and discrepancies.
- Maintain organized work areas, tools, and materials.
- Follow quality, safety, and configuration control procedures.
- Identify ways to improve assembly processes and workflows.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree or certificate in engineering technology, electronics, manufacturing, mechanical technology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in hands-on mechanical or electrical work.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn how to use specialized tools.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new assembly, manufacturing, and testing techniques.
- Helpful experience includes soldering, crimping, cable assembly, using multimeters or oscilloscopes, machining, 3D printing, and previous work in technical, manufacturing, automotive, robotics, or military environments.

- Location: Glendale, Arizona.
- This is a paid, on-site internship.
- Both full-time and part-time schedules are available.
- Start and end dates are flexible based on your academic schedule.
