About the role#
Bascom Hunter is looking for an Engineering Technician or Assembly Intern to help build, integrate, and test aerospace and defense hardware. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with components, using tools, and troubleshooting technical problems. You will work alongside engineers and technicians to support programs involving advanced electronics, communications, and power systems.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical and electromechanical assembly of components and systems.
- Build prototypes and products using schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Install hardware, wiring, connectors, and fasteners using hand and power tools.
- Support cable and harness assembly.
- Assist with product integration and development activities.
- Set up and execute functional and environmental tests.
- Troubleshoot assembly and integration issues.
- Inspect assemblies to ensure they meet specification requirements.
- Document test results and assembly activities.
- Maintain organized work areas and follow safety and quality procedures.
- Identify ways to improve assembly workflows and tooling.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in engineering technology, manufacturing, electronics, or a related field.
- A strong interest in hands-on mechanical or electrical work.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn how to use measurement equipment and power tools.
- Ability to read and follow technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Willingness to learn new manufacturing and testing techniques.
- Previous experience with assembly, hand tools, or electronics is preferred.
- Familiarity with soldering, crimping, 3D printing, or machining is a plus.
