About the role#
BDO Canada is hiring a Co-op student or Intern for the Risk Advisory Services team in Toronto. This position runs for 4 months from May to August 2027. You will work on client engagements and gain exposure to internal audit, internal controls, and enterprise risk management.
What you'll do#
- Work on client engagements including internal audit, internal controls design, and enterprise risk management.
- Conduct Third Party Assurance work for CSAE 3416 and SSAE 18 (SOC1).
- Review, document, and evaluate business processes and internal controls for design and operational effectiveness.
- Gather information using a proactive and logical approach.
- Present complex ideas through clear communications.
- Develop client deliverables such as risk assessments, analyses, recommendations, and reporting documentation.
- Collaborate with engagement teams to set timelines and ensure high-quality service.
- Communicate progress updates to Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Managers.
- Use current technology and tools to support innovation in service delivery.
- Solicit and apply feedback to enhance the quality and efficiency of future work.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accounting-focused post-secondary program.
- Intention to pursue the CPA designation.
- Strong interest in a career in risk advisory and exploring the CIA designation.
- Desire to provide outstanding client service and a commitment to teamwork.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deliverables with varying deadlines.

- Compensation: $48,000 - $60,000.
