About the role#
This is a construction engineering internship focused on infrastructure projects. You will gain hands-on experience by working on-site to help bring civil engineering designs to life. This is a full-time, paid position with a rolling application window.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction observation of activities and follow project procedures.
- Review and assure your supervisor that the project budget and schedule are adequate.
- Maintain a field book and prepare Inspector’s Daily Reports.
- Perform measurements of work and calculate quantities for pay items.
- Review plans, specifications, and submittals for assigned work.
- Provide professional assistance to project managers and report on work progress, technical issues, and deficiencies.
- Maintain company vehicles and equipment assigned to your project.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related curriculum.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.
- You possess strong organizational skills and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working on field projects is desired.
- Exposure to ArcGIS, MicroStation, Geopak, or AutoCAD is helpful.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, field-based role. You will travel to project sites regularly.
- Openings are available in Grand Rapids, Marquette, and Novi, Michigan.
- This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
