About the role#
This co-op position serves as the primary interface for end-user computing services. You will work directly with analysts and customers to analyze and resolve computing and network device issues. This is an eight-month, full-time commitment designed to provide practical experience in a professional IT environment. You will be treated as a true employee throughout your term.
What you'll do#
- Provide support for all end-user platforms, including desktop and laptop systems.
- Maintain desktop images and standardization.
- Support security and malware protection packages.
- Manage desktop policies and mobile computing standards.
- Repair PCs and peripheral equipment.
- Resolve complex issues that exceed first-tier help desk capabilities.
- Coordinate with network, datacenter, and application development teams to restore services.
- Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution.
- Simulate or recreate user issues to identify operating difficulties.
- Recommend system modifications to reduce recurring user problems.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior standing in a Bachelor’s degree program for MIS or Computer Science.
- A 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.
- Ability to commit to the full eight-month term.
- Strong background in Windows software troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Windows XP and newer versions, plus Windows Server 2008 and newer.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of PC hardware.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage your own workload, and multi-task.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow written instructions and meet project milestones.
- High level of motivation and independence.
