About the role#
Braun Intertec offers a six-month co-op program for students pursuing degrees in civil engineering, construction management, or related fields. This is a paid, full-time position that runs from May through November or December. You will receive technical training and industry certifications, including American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician I and nuclear density gauge training. You will work under the mentorship of licensed engineers to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform testing on construction materials including soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
- Conduct onsite testing for commercial and transportation construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and technicians to ensure project specifications are met.
- Learn and follow ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, ICC, and DOT standards.
- Work outdoors in various climates and terrains, which may include uneven ground, confined spaces, or supported trenches.
- Perform mathematical calculations required for field testing.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in civil engineering or a related construction field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50-75 lbs safely.
- Commitment to full-time work for the six-month duration.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This is an on-site role available in multiple locations, including Bloomington, Hibbing, Rochester, St. Cloud, St. Paul, and Duluth, MN; Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio, Tyler, Allen, Amarillo, Dallas, and Austin, TX; La Crosse, WI; Kansas City, KS; Minot, Bismarck, Dickinson, and Fargo, ND; Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, IA; and Chicago, IL.
