About the role#
This 10-week summer internship offers hands-on experience in the retail buying world. You will work alongside a team of professionals to learn the day-to-day operations of a retail buyer. The program includes leadership development seminars, training in retail math and Microsoft Excel, store and distribution center tours, and mentorship from an Assistant Buyer.
What you'll do#
- Support the buying team with merchandise selection, negotiation, and pricing.
- Assist in category and assortment planning to meet customer demand.
- Research current trends and prepare trend boards for strategy meetings.
- Update and track purchase orders to ensure products arrive on time.
- Travel to market visits to meet with vendors and help select products.
- Participate in competitive shopping to identify new product opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a basic understanding of Microsoft Office.
- An interest in retail math and product merchandising.
- Ability to travel within the NY, NJ, and PA region for vendor appointments and market visits.
