About the role#
The Lafayette Engine Center Internship Program offers students the chance to work alongside manufacturing and supply chain professionals. Interns receive project responsibilities and networking opportunities with Caterpillar employees. This program starts in May 2027 with full-time hours during the summer, transitioning to part-time work during the academic year. The position may continue until graduation.
What you'll do#
- Participate in manufacturing engineering, facilities engineering, operations quality, or supply chain planning.
- Manage assigned projects.
- Network with employees across the organization.
- Contribute to an inclusive, constructive, and productive work environment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student at a 4-year university in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, or engineering fields including Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0.
- Completion of 30 semester hours prior to the start date (transfer students must have 12 hours completed at a 4-year university).
- Analytical skills including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience through previous technical internships, co-ops, or research.
- Leadership involvement in campus organizations.
- Ability to work with diverse cultures.
Location & details#
- Location: Lafayette, Indiana.
- Modality: On-site, 5 days per week.
- Reliable transportation for the daily commute is required.
- This is a paid internship.
