About the role#
Charles River Associates is hiring for the Cyber & Forensic Technology Consulting Analyst/Associate role. This position supports our Forensic Services teams in investigations, incident response, and e-discovery. You will work on complex matters involving data security, litigation, and regulatory proceedings. This is a full-time, paid opportunity for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with security and privacy investigations related to data security matters, including breaches and fraud.
- Conduct detailed forensic investigations of computers, networks, mobile devices, and removable media.
- Identify, research, and organize information to determine the nature of a system compromise or data theft.
- Defensibly collect digital evidence and maintain proper chain-of-custody documentation.
- Use programming skills in Python, T-SQL, VBA, Excel, or C# to support analysis and model building.
- Communicate investigative findings to team members and clients, including drafting written reports.
- Stay current with developments in digital forensics, software tools, e-discovery, and incident response.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidate graduating in December 2026 or Summer 2027.
- Academic focus in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of computer operating systems, software, and hardware.
- Knowledge of proper evidence handling procedures and chain-of-custody.
- Familiarity with legal concepts related to intellectual property.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.

- Modality: On-site (expected in-office 3 to 4 days per week).
