About the role#
Charles River Medical Associates hires gap year students to gain direct patient care experience. This role is designed for those preparing for medical school. You will work on-site in a clinical environment to assist with patient flow and office operations.
What you'll do#
- Bring patients from the waiting room to the exam room and take vitals.
- Update patient history and the electronic medical record.
- Perform protocol-based tests including depression screenings.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials.
- Conduct routine office tests such as urinalysis, EKG, phlebotomy, and injections.
- Assist physicians and nurses with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Manage physician messaging and follow up on patient inquiries.
- Coordinate pre-visit preparations and ensure labs are completed.
- Clean and restock exam rooms and manage medical supply inventories.
- Provide administrative support at the front desk when needed.
What you'll need#
- Recent college degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Chemistry, or Kinesiology with excellent grades.
- Intent to attend medical school within the next 1 to 2 years.
- Ability to commit to at least 12 months in this role.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to multitask.
