About the role#
As a Humanities Student Assistant, you will support the daily operations of the Humanities department at Chatham University. This on-campus role provides an opportunity to work closely with faculty and staff while gaining experience in office administration, event planning, and student outreach. The position is flexible, allowing you to contribute your own ideas and unique skills to the department.
What you'll do#
- Handle daily administrative tasks such as copying, scanning, filing, and managing inter-office mail.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of Lindsay House.
- Organize and execute department events, workshops, and information sessions, including managing logistics, registration, and promotion.
- Create and share content for department social media accounts and program email newsletters.
- Engage with fellow students through outreach activities, classroom presentations, and partnerships with student organizations.
What you'll need#
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff.
- Effective communication skills for peer-to-peer engagement.
- Experience with social media and newsletter content creation.
- Interest in event management and promotion.
- Current enrollment as a student, with preference for majors in Communications, Human Resources, Psychology, Political Science, or Philosophy.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- This is an unpaid, part-time role.
- Work hours are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year.
- Employment is on a rolling basis and does not automatically carry over to future academic terms.
