About the role#
This is a 4-month internship starting in January 2027. You will join a team of hardware engineers working on the WaveLogic portfolio, which includes advanced optical communication products capable of data rates up to 1,600 Gbps. The role involves exposure to electrical design, manufacturing operations, failure analysis, laboratory validation, and cross-functional product development.
What you'll do#
- Perform simulation activities, functional schematic reviews, and physical PCB layout reviews.
- Handle BOM generation and associated documentation.
- Conduct hardware debugging and verify electrical designs against datasheet specifications.
- Document testing results.
- Review component specifications and research alternate sources to support qualification.
- Analyze large-scale manufacturing yield data to identify insights for factory improvement.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree for Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, or an equivalent program.
- Foundational knowledge of lab equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and basic soldering.
- Familiarity with the hardware design process, including schematics, layout, and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in prototyping or embedded hardware projects.
- Exposure to optical transceivers, coherent optics, or telecom networking is an asset.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques like histogram distributions, Q-Q plots, STDev, and CpK parameters.
- Experience with visualization tools such as PowerBI, Excel, or JMP.
- Experience with the Cadence Allegro toolset.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Linux shell, PowerQuery, or Tcl.
- Confidence in presenting ideas to colleagues and management.
