About the role#
Commerce Bank is hiring interns for a full-time, 11-week program during the summer of 2027. This paid position offers exposure to various lines of business and provides opportunities to work on projects while interacting with leadership. Interns participate in weekly lunch-and-learns, community service, and team outings.
What you'll do#
- Support relationship and portfolio managers by preparing loan documentation, onboarding new loans, and monitoring existing accounts.
- Perform financial analysis on companies across various industries and sizes.
- Receive training on credit analysis and the underwriting process, including cash flow, collateral, and industry competition.
- Rotate through local lines of business, such as Commercial, Treasury, Trust, Retail, and Community Markets.
- Attend loan committee meetings for new requests and renewals.
- Participate in networking and personal development events.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
- Basic knowledge of banking, accounting, or finance principles.
- Analytical skills related to financial and accounting concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in sales and willingness to join relationship managers on calls.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time internship running from May 18, 2027, to July 30, 2027.
- Positions are available in Joplin, MO, Bolivar, MO, and Cape Girardeau, MO.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
