About the role#
The Committee for Public Counsel Services Worcester PDD Trial Office is hiring law student interns for the Spring 2027 term. You will work alongside veteran attorneys, social workers, and investigators to provide legal representation and advocacy for indigent clients facing criminal charges in District and Superior Courts.
What you'll do#
- Conduct client interviews.
- Perform legal research and draft pretrial motions, affidavits, and legal memoranda.
- Present arraignment and bail arguments.
- Assist with pretrial motion arguments.
- Carry out pretrial investigations, including visiting crime scenes and interviewing witnesses.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client representation and related work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in law school.
- Completion of or current enrollment in an evidence or trial practice class.
- Written approval from your Dean for SJC Rule 3:03 representation.
- Coursework in criminal law, evidence, constitutional law, critical legal theory, or trial advocacy is preferred.
- SJC Rule 3.03 certification is preferred.
