About the role#
The Estimating Intern supports our estimating team with daily tasks including quantity takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, and document management. This full-time summer position provides hands-on experience with cost comparisons and project record maintenance. You will work on-site in Hartford to assist with the preconstruction process.
What you'll do#
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and cost comparisons.
- Manage subcontractor lists and research products and suppliers.
- Visit project sites to collect data on access, topography, and utilities.
- Prepare and reconcile cost estimates against previous project data.
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to support the estimating process.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of construction processes, materials, systems, and terminology.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost tracking and analysis.
- Basic understanding of unit pricing, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimating principles.
