About the role#
Cordell and Cordell PC is hiring Summer Associates for the summer of 2027. This paid, full-time internship is designed for law students to gain practical experience in family law. You will work alongside experienced attorneys and firm leaders, mirroring the responsibilities of a first-year associate. Successful completion of the program may lead to part-time law clerk positions during your third year or full-time roles after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Draft and analyze legal documents for active family law cases.
- Conduct legal research and prepare trial materials.
- Attend court proceedings with experienced attorneys.
- Join client meetings to observe case strategy.
- Work with a Litigation Partner to build a foundation in family law practice.
- Participate in firm-sponsored networking and social events.
- Complete other tasks as needed to support firm operations.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current 2L student (2028 graduate) in good standing at an accredited law school.
- A minimum law school GPA of 3.0 is required.
- You must show a clear interest in a career in family law.
- You need the ability to reside in your assigned office location for the duration of the program.
- Flexibility regarding work location upon graduation is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Your application must include a cover letter, resume, and your most current law school transcript.

- This is an on-site, paid internship paying $35 per hour.
- Locations include Phoenix, AZ; Denver, CO; Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Tampa, FL; Atlanta, GA; Ann Arbor, MI; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis and Town & Country, MO; Charlotte, Raleigh, and Wilmington, NC; Columbus, OH; San Antonio and Houston, TX; Midvale, UT; and Falls Church, Richmond, and Virginia Beach, VA.
