About the role#
This is a 10-week paid internship program running from May 24, 2027, to July 30, 2027. You will join the Mechanical Operations department to manage asset utilization and repair projects across the CSX network. The role focuses on equipment reliability, data analytics, and technology reporting tools. There is a potential for a co-op extension following the summer program.
What you'll do#
- Review, design, and implement an analytics platform to monitor mechanical car reliability, repair, and production.
- Partner with the Facilities, Mechanical Car/Locomotive, and Transportation departments to support the network.
- Ensure the availability of reliable mechanical equipment.
- Manage multiple asset utilization and repair projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a rising senior or graduate student at an accredited college or university.
- An anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Pursuit of a degree in systems engineering, computer engineering, computer science, business administration, information technology, or law.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong skills in time management, organization, and communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and programming languages such as Python or Java.
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site at CSX Headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.
- The role involves up to 5% travel and may require working at elevated heights.
- Work schedules may vary and can include a non-standard workweek.
- Eligible interns may receive complimentary housing for the duration of the 10-week program.
- Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug test.
